Furniture made of cardboard for a dollhouse: we make interior with improvised means (54 photos)

DIY-made toy furniture made of cardboard will not only delight the little ones, but will also help parents to get close to their child during the co-creation, to better understand each other. On the one hand, such an activity contributes to saving the family budget, because, as a rule, prices in specialized stores are not distinguished by loyalty. On the other hand, doing handicrafts gives children perseverance, accuracy, patience, helps the development of spatial thinking.

If you want to add toys and houses with “real” headsets, give the dolls comfortable and original furniture sets, you shouldn’t throw away the following household waste we are used to:

  • matchboxes - they will be needed if you want to make full-fledged drawers in cabinets, toilet and bedside tables, dressers;
  • plastic bottles;
  • plywood trim and wooden blocks;
  • foil, flexible wire of different thickness;
  • knitting and embroidery threads;
  • cardboard boxes for cosmetics, household appliances, shoes;
  • dishwashing sponges, viscose napkins;
  • scraps of leather, fabric - the more beautiful pieces of cloth, the better;
  • plastic food containers, egg cells.

If there are people engaged in needlework in the house, furniture for dolls made of cardboard can be decorated with beads, rhinestones, polymer clay, beads, lace - all this will help to create a bright, colorful interior of the doll house.

Handicrafts made of paper and cardboard are the easiest option for arranging a toy interior, they will become a kind of warm-up before developing complicated projects. To make such furniture for dolls with your own hands, you will need:

  • a small box, for example, from under a hair dye;
  • pencil and ruler;
  • glue;
  • office knife and scissors;
  • foil;
  • colored paper or white (the product can be further painted with pencils, felt-tip pens or paints).

First of all, you need to find out the future height of the dressing table, it must be such that the doll can be planted in front of an improvised mirror. If we take into account the standard parameters, the box should be cut at a height of 6-8 cm. From the remaining material it is necessary to form a blank for a mirror with a height of 15-16 cm, it can be either rectangular or figured. It must be greased with glue and fixed on the base of the table. The whole construction should then be pasted over with white or colored paper, paint the doors and drawers (they will not open). In the area where the mirror will be located, glue the foil.

The subtleties of the manufacture of bulk functional models

If you are interested in the question of how to make furniture out of cardboard, so that it turns out to be soft and most closely correspond to real sofas and armchairs, you should adopt the corrugated material commonly used in the manufacture of packaging boxes. If we take an armchair as an example, the first step here is the drawing up of drawings of parts — side slats with armrests, a bottom and a back. Sticking to each other several identical cut blanks, you can achieve the required volume and proportion, then you only need to glue the assembled craft with thin foam rubber and cover it with a cloth.

The result is upholstered furniture made of cardboard, from which you can assemble a real headset: a pair of chairs, a sofa, a padded stool. The latter, by the way, can also be glued together from the same parts, glued with fabric and foam rubber. To achieve greater similarity with the "original" on top of it should be put a small quilted pad, stuffed with cotton.

Furniture made of cardboard can be decorated with an exquisite and unusual addition in the form of a woven back or curved legs made of wire. The solid seat of a chair or bench is combined with openwork elements, the whole composition is painted in a single scale - this is how you can make an improvised garden composition or a Victorian home set. In the same way, you can create "forged" backs and legs for a baby doll bed, as a frame will serve as a cardboard blank, the mattress and bedding are made of shreds and foam rubber.

Possibilities of using plastic and aluminum bottles

They allow you to make curly and three-dimensional elements for which the cardboard base is not suitable. In particular, for children, chairs from plastic bottles of 0.5 l will be interesting: a soft seat will be located in the lower part, the back and curved armrests are performed in a seamless way. To do this, cut off the neck, cut the workpiece in front of about a third of the "circle" - this is the place where the doll will sit down, the armrests are bent on both sides and the resulting "rollers" are fixed with a stapler, the oval back is cut out. At the bottom of the bottle put a high soft cushion-seat.

Approximately also assembled chairs from aluminum bottles, but here you can make openwork and more complex additions, as the material perfectly bends and keeps its shape. Such products will become successful companions for furniture made of cardboard, and in order for crafts to fit into the toy interior, all fabric elements should be made in a similar style from one material.

A table with a mosaic table top

If you do not know how to make furniture for dolls, start with this option - it is quite simple, and the result will please with brightness and originality. The form can be rectangular or round, in the first case the standard legs are glued to the tabletop, they can be cardboard or openwork wire, in the second case it will be more convenient if you make a leg of two pieces of cardboard connected crosswise.

For decorating the top plane, an ordinary colored cardboard will be suitable: from it, small elements should be cut, which later, with arbitrary gluing, form a beautiful ornament on the table top. By the same principle, a table with checkers can be assembled (a rectangular surface imitates the playing field); in this case, the existing elements can be replaced with large beads of corresponding colors or flat beads.

The furniture for Barbie decorated with weaving looks interesting. The skeleton is made with the help of toothpicks, knitting threads of medium thickness are used instead of the vine, PVA glue is used for additional bonding. To hide the joints and seams, craftswomen decorate these areas with rope pigtails.

Matchbox Toy Chest

It is very easy to make such doll furniture with your own hands: only boxes (4-6 pieces), cardboard and glue will be needed. First you need to decorate the front surface of the “drawers”: they are taken out and pasted over from one short end with colored cardboard, scraps of postcards or fabric to choose from. Empty shells are connected to each other and trimmed with cardboard from all sides with the exception of the zone into which the boxes will be inserted. The handles are made of beads (they can be put on glue), they will also become beautiful legs for a dresser.

In order for dollhouse furniture and interior crafts to serve as long as possible, they can be coated with acrylic varnish - it is safe for children, not washed off when dried, gives a glossy shine and enhances durability. A mandatory safety measure is a strong fixation of all small and decorative elements on the surface of products - this will reduce the risk of injury to children. It is important that moisture does not get onto the toy-made toy, and to keep the original color away from direct sunlight.
