Leveling the floor - this is one of the main components of quality repairs in the house, since the smooth surface of the floor plays a very important role. The fact is that the quality of this part of the room depends not only beauty, but also the durability of operation, as well as the safety of residents of the house.

The floor always takes on the burden of the weight of people and furniture, so any irregularities can cause damage to the coating. The presence of humps and holes often leads to injury to residents of the house. As for the appearance, no matter what kind of flooring will be used on it, it will never look good if the floor is uneven. Even the most expensive and beautiful appearance is always compensated by the curvature of the base.

Alignment of the base of the floor is necessary to perform necessarily if you plan to parquet or laminate. These types of coating are bonded to each other by means of a lock joint, and any existing irregularities provoke an increase in loads on them.

As a result, the locks will quickly become unusable, cracks will appear on the joints, into which dust, dirt and water will fall. Over time, they will expand, which ultimately will lead to complete deformation of the coating and the loss of its performance characteristics. Therefore, the alignment of the floor under the laminate and parquet should be carried out on a mandatory basis, even if the drops are small. Alignment of the floor under the linoleum also plays an important role, because under such a coating all the flaws of the base will be visible.

Methods of leveling the floor are different. The choice of one method or another depends on several factors. First of all, this is affected by the type of floor that needs to be leveled. If the work will be carried out in a wooden house with the same floors, it is better to use plywood, and if you need to level the concrete screed, the use of self-leveling mixtures will be more relevant.

So, in modern construction the following methods of leveling the floor are most often used:

  • the use of concrete screed;
  • the use of self-leveling mixture;
  • plywood alignment;
  • dry screed.

One way or another is better suited for a particular type of floor, so before starting work in the house it is recommended to weigh all the pros and cons of each type of alignment and figure out which one is more suitable for the room.

To use this method, you will need to prepare a cement-sand mixture for leveling the floor. Depending on what kind of load will give the floor during operation, proportions are selected. Most often use one part of cement and three or four parts of sand.

Leveling the floor with cement is more suitable for apartments and houses with concrete floors. After completion of the work and complete drying of the mixture, the base will become very durable and will serve its owners for decades. The great advantage of this method is its simplicity. It does not require special knowledge and construction experience.

This material is used to work with concrete and sandy foundations. The leveling layer will allow to achieve an ideal flatness with a minimum investment of human labor. The principle of action is based on the laws of attraction.

Leveling the floor with a self-leveling compound is usually easy. Bulk material should only be diluted with water in the proportions indicated on the package, and pour the resulting solution onto the floor. It should be remembered that the mixture to level the floor does not spread independently. Therefore, in order to cover the entire required surface with it, it is necessary to evenly distribute it independently. In this case, you can use the construction rule, a spatula or a needle roller.

If there are small cracks on the base, then for a better penetration of the solution, they need to be slightly extended with a chisel. In this case, the self-leveling floor will last a very long time.

Sheets of plywood to eliminate the curvature of the floor began to apply for a long time. Nowadays, this material does not lose its popularity and is used quite often. It can be used to level the plank floor and the concrete floor, but different techniques are used for this.

Basically, plywood is used to level the floor using three technologies. These include:

  • assembly using lag;
  • gluing;
  • the use of "adjustable" plywood.

Most often, the alignment of the wooden floor with plywood is performed using the first method. It is the most common and long-standing. It implies the installation of the structure from zero, as well as the correction of deficiencies that have arisen as a result of improper construction or long-term operation.

Every year a dry screed becomes more and more popular. It is carried out mainly from expanded clay. The great advantage of this method lies in the ease of execution and speed.

The alignment of the floor in the bathroom, if you plan to lay tiles on it, is performed using a different technology. It does not make sense here to first carry out floor manipulations and then lay tiles over time. It is better to combine both stages into one. In this case, the floor will be leveled with tile adhesive, and the floor covering layer will be laid in parallel.

This method is relevant to use only if there are small irregularities on the floor. If the drops in the room are large, it is better to pre-level the floor under the tile, and after drying the mixture to lay the flooring itself.
